Adana, an agricultural and industrial city, is the largest city in the Mediterranean Region and the fifth largest city in Turkey with a population of approximately 2,200,000 people. The city center was established on the banks of the Seyhan River, which flows into the Mediterranean Sea by making wide curves in the plain from the Taurus Mountains.

Archaeological research conducted in the region to date has shown that the city has thousands of years of history. The city, which has embraced different civilizations for thousands of years, has become a settlement of people who came from almost every part of Turkey through migration.

The administrative structure of Adana province consists of 1 metropolitan municipality, 15 districts and 828 neighborhoods.
